Is My Phone Being Tapped? When Is It Legal, When Is It a Crime?

TCK Article 132 – Violation of Communication Privacy

Unauthorized listening or recording of phone conversations and private messages is a crime and includes the following sanctions:

  • A person who violates communication privacy receives imprisonment from 1 to 3 years.
  • If this communication is unlawfully disclosed, the penalty can increase from 2 to 5 years.
  • If the crime is committed through press or social media, the penalty is further aggravated.
